Supergraph has just been and gone - It was an absolute blast with our students enjoying the limelight ! via our Typography Emporium which was mobbed by hundreds, with alot of the work selling out ! Hundreds of curious people wanted to check out and buy student work and find out more about our classes and design program ! People were excited to discover that Melbourne offers such a unique and specialised Typographic learning opportunity.  There are more and more requests to bring this up to Sydney !  (its not too late to apply to be part of this ! with applications closing this Friday) !

All the work for the Type Emporium featured our talened students: Timothy Rogers, Josie Fox, Lyn Tran of Draw and Explore, Tricia Brady and Madeline Deneys, and Sean Cunningham.

Who all showcased Copperplate skills to the public who relished the opportunity to have their selected words hand lettered right before the eyes, and discover the power of lovely lettering to take the meaning of a phrase to a whole new level !

Most importantly, The Emporium provided a unique opportunity for our students to share their talent with the public. Much more valuable than a grad show which is usually for parents, and doesn't really help students to gain the exposure that participating in Supergraph does. Supergraph is also incredibly valuable because it enables new connections to be made, when movers and shakers are all there under the one roof checking work out! Our students have had the opportunity to strut their stuff to people such as Gemma O'Brien, Brendan Mcknight from Frankie, Georgia Perry, Just another Agency and much much more! It's such a good leg up!

All ready to load up in the car and take to the Royal Exhibition Buildings for SupergraphOld School New School was contacted by Supergraph to run a Typographic Masterclass. I decided to stick to the pure craft of Typography, resisting the urge to be more playful, when my first idea was typographic speed dating. This masterclass deals with the pure knowledge of how to draw black letter forms. Delivered to 30 people with a microphone was a new challenge which ran smoothly thanks to the well oiled preparation of the Supergraph team !

Bringing this to you has been quite a labour !

Meanwhile - our first and second Type by hand workshop sold out super fast ! and we have scheduled our third one for March, along with a brush script class, and a special letter press class that features setting type by hand !

Web site traffic is double, and our applications are rolling in nicely as the word spreads about what we have to offer ! And next time you hear from me, you can see our new studio in Brunswick ! but more later !
